About Us

This is a craft in the classroom project, established by the Crafts Council Of Ireland, facilitated by the teacher Caitriona Mc Manus and Teddy Bear artist Anke Morgenroth from Bear Essentials and to be accomplished by 23 boys of the 2nd and 3rd class of St.Patrick’s Boys National School in Balliamore County Leitrim in 2009.

My name is Caitríona Mc Manus.  I teach second and third class in St.Patrick’s Boy’s National School.  I first heard about this project last September/October.  I thought it sounded very exciting and a worthwhile project to be a part of.  We filled in an application form and shortly afterwards we received word that we had been accepted.  We were very excited.  So far we have had three sessions with Anke and we are all really enjoying it and learning lots of new skills and new information.  It is also really helping to raise the children’s understanding of global issues.  We can’t wait to see the finished products.

St. Patrick’s Boy’s National School is a small school in Ballinamore,
Co. Leitrim with about 55 pupils on the roll.  The second and third class boys are taking part in this project. As one part of our documentation about the whole project Anke started this blog for us.  This is our first time to have our own blog and it is very exciting for us and hopefully we will be able to keep it updated and add to it in the future.

My name is Anke Morgenroth. I am a member of the Crafts Council of Ireland since I started Bear Essentials in 2000. To read more about Bear Essentials please follow this link.
